New Orleans and Southeast Louisiana

SBP was founded in New Orleans just six months after Hurricane Katrina in St. Bernard Parish, New Orleans. Today, New Orleans is our home base, where we’ve grown in partnership with communities in the city and in Southeast Louisiana over 18 years in pursuit of our mission to help people shrink the time between disaster and recovery.

Greater New Orleans Recovery Operations

In the Greater New Orleans area, we’ve repaired hundreds of homes, ensuring safety and stability for families displaced by multiple disasters since 2006.

With the help of volunteers, AmeriCorps members, and in collaboration with local and national partner organizations and government leaders, we have provided safe, secure housing for low- to moderate-income families. Our efforts have also empowered entire communities on the front lines of climate dangers to prepare, recover, and increase resilience for the long term.
